What Do Voters Have To Say?

This is a sample of comments posted on sibreporter.net.  YOUR INPUT AND SUPPORT  IS APPRECIATED!

Comment: The attack on this woman has been a well known fact for years among the residents of Winston Towers. It was a big story at the time it happened because Welsh was an executive member of Concerned Citizens as well as VP of the Board of Directors at Building 400. Given how visible he was in the community at the time this happened you would think he would have the common sense to lay low and not pursue a political career in Sunny Isles. Most of the residents who live in the complex are amazed that he actually has the nerve to run for city commissioner. No one I know would even consider voting for him.

Comment: Well well well, Mr Welsh you may not remember me but I was once a supporter of yours. But how quickly that changed when we met on several occasions and my gut told me something was up with you, something that was not only corrupt but sinister.  Well fellow citizens of sunny isles, my gut wasn’t wrong then and it is not wrong now! There is more dirt that this Mr. Welsh isn’t telling us about his past and we as the voting public have not only a right to know but should demand…… And until he comes clean this man should be banned from public office …thank-you

Comment: This group’s name “Concerned Citizens” is so misleading. It has always been a political machine promoting the agenda of City Hall 1000%. CCNED officers work hand in hand with the Mayor just waiting for their turn to run for office. This bunch of self-serving hacks couldn’t care less about the needs of the people. There should be a full scale investigation into their finances.

Comment: My wife and me voted already Thursday morning for all three of you.  We have experience already with what these crooks did to JACK COHEN two years ago and believe me,  the sooner we get rid of ALL these crooks, the better for everybody.  Lets hope enough people feel the way we do.  GOOD LUCK

Comment: I’m not surprised to hear this. I’ve always had my suspicions about the people associated with CCNED. I just went on www.sunbiz.org to verify this information and there it is in black and white. If they’ve been operating illegally then I’d like to know where everyone’s annual dues were deposited all these years. Thank you for revealing this information. If this is how Bob Welsh manages this organization then I certainly don’t want to see him doing the same thing with SIB taxpayer dollars as a City Commissioner. We’ve had enough of this kind of shady stuff under Mayor Edelcup. We don’t need Welsh helping Edelcup operate this way for another 4 years.

Comment: In one of the anonymous letters, they used our “true leadership” slogan for themselves.  Our opponents are so void of substance and original thought they even have to steal our ideas!

Comment: SHOCKING ALLEGATIONS OF CITY HALL CORRUPTION! Unbelievable that this could be going on. The FBI and Attorney General need to do a FULL investigation immediately. We the people deserve to know the truth!

Comment: Looks like the October surprise just arrived in the form on an “anonymous letter” full of lies about Michael Schnitzer and misrepresentations about his two running mates.  You know what they say about anonymous letters – they should be filed under T for trash! While it is pointless to address any of the smears, lies and nonsense contained therein, it is worth mentioning that these are the actions of cowards who lack the courage to speak out publicly. This is who supports our Mayor and his cronies – cowards who hide their identity and send unsigned letters filled with lies. In contrast, the brave men and true heroes of our Dade County Police Benevolent Association, publicly and proudly bestowed their coveted endorsement to Michael Schnitzer, Jeanette Gatto and Jeniffer Viscarra – the candidates they respected. Need I say more?

Comment: What great news about the PBA endorsement. Comes to show how much they love our current Mayor.

Comment: The three of you have my vote! Do you need volunteers? I would love to help your cause.

Comment: Isaac Aelion should know better. Jumping to conclusions without checking the facts is not smart. It’s also not an attribute I want in a City Commissioner.  If he had done his homework he would have learned that Jeniffer was voted on the Board as part of the “clean up crew” at the building, and is not responsible for any of the disrepair or mismanagement for that matter.  This is yet another desperate move by Isaac Aelion who will throw something out, see if it sticks and try to run with it. Folks, aren’t you tired of these kinds of “politicians”?

Comment: If that’s the dirt [Aelion] is flinging around it shows that 1) he’s got absolutely nothing bad to say so he’s resorted to making things up and 2) he has no platform to run on. I’ll be voting for Jeniffer Viscarra this election, a candidate who actually wants to focus on the issues.

Comment: And the good news is that Sunny Isles Beach voters now have a chance for a clean sweep of City Hall. Michael Schnitzer, Jeanette Gatto and Jeniffer Viscarra with their combined talents will honorably serve the needs of the people. The prized endorsement by the Dade County Police Benevolent Association is significant and this endorsement of Schnitzer, Gatto, and Viscarra over the incumbant Mayor Edelcup and the candidates who share his agenda signal a disconnect between the highly regarded SIB Police Department and the Mayor’s policies. Prediction: Change is in the air.

Comment: As a resident of Winston Towers I would like to comment on the Town Center Park.  In the back of the park was a wonderful walking path that was frequented by many residents, old and young.  Now, through the wisdom of our commision, a skateboard park is being constructed. Besides the noise of the boarding itself, I’m sure the crowd will also be young and loud as well.  This park is in the “backyard” of two residential buildings with over 500 units facing it directly.  From my vantage point I can also see the “parking lot” behind Walgreen’s.  I put the words in quotes because I have never seen more than 5 cars in there at one time???  That would have been a better spot for the skateboard park but what do the residents of Sunny Isles know….the Bank of Edelcup just does what it wants and his yes men keep approving everything despite the negative impact.

Comment: I guess it is time already for Mayor Edelcup and his sidekicks to leave and let us be done with them for good.  Mr Edelcup behaves like a dictator in more than one respect and having watched him in action, allows me to state it…I dare bet he thinks like Louis XIV, “L’etat c’est moi” and Louis XV :” Apres moi, le deluge” and still has the “chutzpah” of aspiring for reelection…[…] We need this parking building in front of the Ramada Inn like a hole in the head and I dare say there is more underneath than what the naked eye sees, as well as this Aquarium, the purchase of the 163rd street strip shopping center and his harassing of the synagogue, indicates it is time to make a clean sweep of City Hall…This council has shamelessly been in bed with the developers and firmly believes we are its servants and not the way around….

Comment: What’s even worse is that despite the Chief’s multiple recommendations that Captain Michael Grandinetti take his place, the City Manager (Rick Conner) has absolutely no intentions of doing so. In fact, he already has the job search posted off-site (http://www.cb-asso.com/active.html).  I’m certain at this point the wealth of experience and knowledge at Government Center is all but decimated at this point. Add another employee to the long list of fired/retired/resigned under the new City Manager: after more than 10 years of service, the Assistant Finance Director has also “retired” as of October 1, 2010. Key people who have been fired/retired/resigned under the “Rick-geme”: Doug Haag, Finance Director –Alyce Hanson, Administrative Services Director — Edel Fonseca, IT Director — Clay Parker, Building Official — Robert Solera, Community Development Director — not to mention the entire Parking Enforcement Department! — Jaime Eisen, Chief Structural Plans Examiner — Bill Evans, Public Works Director.

Comment: As a resident of Sunny Isles Beach, I feel that the present administration has no concern for the quality of life fro the residents of Sunny Isles Beach. They have wasted tens of millions of dollars for project like the parking lot behind Walgreens, the Ramada parking lot in North Sunny Isles and the proposed project on 163 rd Street which will create a traffic nightmare and has no purpose except to help sell apartments in the St. Tropez project.  The team lead by Michael Schnitzer had no obligation to developers and will listen to the concerns of our residents and do whatever is necessary to improve our quality of life.
